Seed Nodes and Servers

Hi,

This is my first post I was interested in your project but I don't fully understand Seed Nodes and how to set it up.

Default ports for P2P and RPC networking — src/cryptonote_config.h
P2P port is used by daemons to communicate with each other through P2P protocol.
RPC port is used by wallet and other software to communicate with the daemon.

What exactly are daemons?

Seed nodes — src/p2p/net_node.inl
Add ip addresses of your seed nodes to the beginning of "node_server<t_payload_net_handler>::init(const boost::program_options::variables_map& vm)" function.
Example:
ADD_HARDCODED_SEED_NODE("111.11.11.11:17236");
ADD_HARDCODED_SEED_NODE("222.22.22.22:17236");

Basically how do I setup the server end of this. Also can use a server like this with Ubuntu on it?

You should just set it up with no additional configurations. Ubuntu should do just fine. And the daemon is a program that implements the p2p-cryptocurrency layer of the CryptoNote protocol for command line and RPC use.
